Chauncey Billups returned to the Killer 3’s lineup for the first time after missing the last two games. 3 Headed Monsters 50, Tri-State 46

Tri-State has been improving and playing tough games, but the 3 Headed Monsters could not be contained. Tri-State led early on, but it’s hard to stop the Big3 scoring leader in Rashard Lewis for a full game. Lewis went 8 for 12 from the field, scoring 25 points. His trusted wingman, Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf, scored 14 points and 3 assists. Bonzi Wells kept Tri-State in the game recording a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Lee Nailon led Tri-State with 14 points along with 2 steals. Tri-State had a good strategy on controlling the inside game, but the 3 Headed Monsters are just too strong on outside shots. The 3 Headed Monsters are the second Big3 Basketball team to clinch a playoff berth.

Trilogy 51, Ghost Ballers 36

This game may very well have been a preview of the first round of the Big3 Basketball playoffs. Trilogy was overpowering once again with their three steady starters. Al Harrington went 7 for 11 from the field, scoring 17 points and 4 assists for undefeated Trilogy. Rashad McCants nailed a 4-point shot and finished the game with 15 points. James White added an additional 12 points along with 8 rebounds. Mike Bibby was solid for the Ghost Ballers, but the team just ran out of steam in the second half. Bibby went 7 for 10 from the field and led the team with 17 points. Ricky Davis shot 50 percent from 3-point land and finished with 13 points. Trilogy is in the driver’s seat for to top seed in the Big3 Basketball playoffs while the Ghost Ballers are barely hanging on to the final playoff spot.

3’s Company 53, Power 49

Besides the drama off the court for 3’s Company on Sunday, they added a lot of drama on the court. The struggling team put forward their best effort to pull of an upset against Power. 3’s Company needed someone to step up in a big way and Andre Owens put the team on his shoulders. Owens scored 25 points and had 11 rebounds giving him another double-double. He also nailed a 3-pointer to win the game.  Al Thornton was also a solid contributor scoring 16 points and grabbing 8 boards. DerMarr Johnson was ice cold going 0 for 8 on 3-pointers, but he did have the added stress of coaching 3’s Company in Iverson’s absence. Cuttino Mobley stayed consistent scoring 23 points in the game. Rasual Butler put together a nice double-double effort scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds. DeShawn Stevenson scored 12 points and Kendall Gill added 10 rebounds. This was the second game in the Big3 this season that had to utilize the “win by two” rule.  The win keeps 3’s Company alive in the playoff race and next week against the Killer 3’s could be the game of the day.
