LaVar Ball’s Leaf Trading Card Sells Out in 45 Seconds

LaVar Ball Leaf Trading Card Sells Out In 45 Seconds

Leaf Trading Cards unveiled a LaVar Ball signature inscriptions card on Wednesday. Leaf reported the cards sold out in 45 seconds after listing. You could initially purchase the card from Leaf on eBay and now will have to purchase one in the after market. Ball has been in the media spotlight for several months now with his outspoken remarks that have turned the sports world upside down to some degree. His Big Baller Brand has also created a lot of hype with the announcement of Lonzo Ball‘s own sneaker, the ZO2. Especially with its $495 asking price. While Ball has been focused on making money, that doesn’t seem to be the case with the trading card as it has a modest $59.95 price tag. “This wasn’t all about money.” Ball said. “I think it’s cool to have a card.”

Leaf has produced 200 packs of the card and each card will have an inscription by LaVar Ball along with his signature. Some of the inscriptions include, “1 Billion was a discount,” “Stay in yo Lane,” and ” I can take Jordan 1 on 1.” Each pack will contain one Lavar Ball inscription and autograph and there is no guarantee which inscription you will receive if you purchase a pack.

This is a very solid business move for Leaf Trading Cards. As the company has struggled in recent years to compete on the trading card market due to not having any major sport licenses, Leaf is using the hype from LaVar Ball to their advantage. Leaf CEO Brian Gray had this to say about the card. “The fact is that LaVar Ball is a significant pop culture icon. My job is to create a collectible element for personalities like him. We’ll now see if the market is real. not based on what people will pay to first buy them, but what they will resell them for.”

Just minutes after the cards sold out, they are already being listed on eBay for anywhere between $200 to an astounding $999. Only time will tell the true resell value of LaVar Ball’s Leaf trading card, but it looks like the card will be valuable.
