The Florida Atlantic Owls landed a solid running back recruit on Friday. Frank Gore Jr. will head to Boca Raton to play for Lane Kiffin at FAU. He comes from a great football pedigree as his dad is a current running back with the Buffalo Bills. Both leading rushers for the Owls in Devin Singletary and Kerrith Whyte are in the NFL, so adding depth at the running back position is key for FAU. Ironically, Singletary now plays for the Bills with the elder Gore. Gore Jr. also had offers from Kentucky, Southern Miss, Buffalo, and Chattanooga.
Gore Jr. is rated as a three-star recruit and currently ranks 74th at his position nationally. He could up his ranking as he goes in his senior season for the Killian Cougars. He’s small for his size at 5-foot-8 and 180 pounds, but he is speedy and shifty. Something that Kiffin likes in his running backs. With the proper development, Gore Jr. could become a solid running back and end up in the NFL just like his dad. He’ll just need to handle the stress of being compared to his dad as he progresses in his college career.
Besides the link to Frank Gore in the NFL, Gore Jr. also is playing for a high school who has and had several players that turned into great NFL players. Lamar Miller, Jaquan Johnson, Stephen Tulloch, among others. Keith Reaser also played for the Cougars and went on to play with FAU also. And we can’t forget the late Sean Taylor who began his high school football career at Killian. Frank Gore Jr. is the second three-star recruit for the Owls in the 2020 class, joining offensive lineman Andre Lamas.
